PALATAKIView on map
Limenaria became famous when the German mining company, Speidel, started the exploitation of the areas zinc and iron reserves in 1903. They built the Palataki as their company headquarters. It is an exceptional specimen of local architecture, situated on the hill overlooking Limenaria harbour. It was abandoned during the mid twentieth century and fell into a state of disrepair, at the end of the last century some small renovations were made and a group of local people are now seeking a full restoration. At the back of the Palataki you can find the beach of Metalleia.
